   Brian has been studying blues and finger style guitar for almost twenty years. He keeps his feet planted firmly in the sounds of the past, but is not afraid to put his own stamp on things. With more than a decade of playing out professionally, both solo and with several bands, Brian has made quite a name for himself in the St. Louis area and the entire Midwest. With FolknBluesGrass he is the key ingredient in making the blues meet the grass. Outside the band he has released two solo albums, where his finger picking and slide guitar shine through and through. On stage Brian puts on a great show and always gets the audience involved. He is known to sometimes tell as many stories and jokes to the listeners as songs.
Steve has been wailing on the electric guitar since his early teens. He then decided to pick up the mandolin when he discovered the jam band/bluegrass scene. In no time Steve was hooked, and a mandolin rock star was born. In his style you can hear the electric guitar/ mandolin fusion. Steve has been performing for crowds since the age of sixteen, and has been in bands such as the Cadillac’s and the Blue River Canyon Band. In FolknBluesGrass he has established himself as a strong vocalist, and his driving mandolin solos grab the attention of any crowd. Steve also plays in Lucky Old Sons and Steve Bauer and Friends around the St.Louis area.
Travis has been playing the electric bass since the age of thirteen.  By the age of twenty his love for bluegrass had grown, so he decided to convert his talents to the upright bass (many times referred to as the doghouse).  Shortly after picking up the doghouse he joined the Blue River Canyon Band, which forced him to adjust to the large instrument quickly.  After two years with the band, he left to join FolknBluesGrass.  Travis’ playing is the driving force that keeps the band in its place.  His jazz influence can be heard through his bluegrass counterpoint and his walking blues lines.  Travis also is the chief engineer at 12 Bar Productions, a St.Louis based recording studio. Arguably certifiable, Frederick Altiere doesn't appear to suffer from insanity;
He enjoys every minute of it!  Labeled as "Concept Percussionist" by music store owners and greeted with "What now?" by welding shops, Fred helps Travis keep FolknBluesGrass moving by pounding on an ever evolving pile of junk.  "Fred's World" includes steel dogbowls, bluebird wind chimes (aka "The Bluesbird of Happiness"), a hayrake triangle, shakerspoons, wood stuff, a kitchen sink, a BBQ grill drum ... and a rubber talking lawn frog (aka "Gig"). The percussion junk addiction took hold when Fred started playing rubboard with local bands Gumbohead, Zydeco Crawdaddys, and Light Stepping Gang.  Shortly after joining FBG, Fred got the other Folkers excited about Roaring 20s jugband kazoo music he performed as a youth with his beloved Sassafras String Band.  For FBG songs needing a softer beat, Fred will add concertina flavor to the mix.  When asked to scribble, the hippie/vet will symbolically muse his equation "Peace plus Love equals Enlightenment."  Howard began playing harmonica 40 years ago in college. He first began performing acoustic style blues in the coffee houses and clubs in Columbia, MO. Early influences were Sonny Terry, Shaky Jake Harris and Sonny Boy Williamson. Over the past 15 years Howard has played a variety of music styles with a considerable number of acoustic and electric groups in the St. Louis area. His favorite has always been acoustic-style playing due to the pure and expressiveness nature of the music. When his schedule permits him to join in, this part-time member of the group lays down rhythm, fills and leads that pushes the over-all energy up another notch.
Howard Young Charlie Selbert Charlie is a fantastic fiddle player that sits in
  with the band on occasion....more to come
