Travis has been playing the electric bass since the age of thirteen. By the age of twenty his love for bluegrass had grown, so he decided to convert his talents to the upright bass (many times referred to as the doghouse). Shortly after picking up the doghouse he joined the Blue River Canyon Band, which forced him to adjust to the large instrument quickly. After two years with the band, he left to join Folk’n BluesGrass. Travis’ playing is the driving force that keeps the band in its place. His jazz influence can be heard through his bluegrass counterpoint and his walking blues lines. Travis King
